Argipressin

Basic Description

Structure and function:
Arginine vasopressin is a synthetic vasopressin analogue consisting of 9 amino acids.
Its main effects are to constrict blood vessels and increase blood pressure by activating V1 receptors, and to increase water reabsorption by the kidneys and reduce urine production by activating V2 receptors.
In vitro and in vivo studies:
In in vitro experiments, arginine vasopressin can significantly increase the contraction of vascular smooth muscle.
In vivo, arginine is effective in increasing blood pressure and reducing urine output.
In clinical applications, arginine vasopressin is used to treat central diabetes insipidus and control bleeding.
