Epitifibatide is a synthetic cyclic heptapeptide with high affinity for KGD (Lys-Gly-Asp) sequence, by competitively binding to the GP IIb/IIIa receptor on the platelet surface, blocking fibrinogen-mediated platelet aggregation and inhibiting thrombosis.
